Calvary Christian School, in partnership with the family, exists to encourage students to accept Christ as Savior and Lord; develop a Biblical worldview; attain their individual academic excellence; and fulfill their God-given responsibilities in the home, church, and community. We follow the example set in Luke 2:52: to help young men and women “grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”
From the Headmaster
ELITE: (noun) the choice or best of anything considered collectively, as of a group or class of persons.
We all want to surround ourselves with those who are ELITE. We want our doctors, lawyers, leaders, and those who defend our freedom to be ELITE. Not many in our culture will set about to call themselves ELITE, or make being ELITE their goal. It might be due to the confusion of the negative connotation to ‘being elitist’, or it may be just too intimidating a goal, because so few will actually reach the status of truly being ELITE. At Calvary Christian School, we want our students to be ELITE, to be considered as a group or individually as ones who set the bar high for themselves, and then achieve those goals to the full extent of their God-given ability.
Our school sets about each day to find and to cultivate the gifts God has given each child, in three areas – academics, athletics, and the arts. Some gifts readily reveal themselves; others are more latent and require cultivation to be brought to the surface, but we believe each child has potential and each child can achieve much with their God-given gifts. With the right coaching, the right instruction, the proper motivation, our students can find themselves to be ELITE, to be counted among the best.
This process requires effective partnerships involving parents, students, faculty, staff, and coaches. Together we nurture, educate, and discipline with an eye towards the adult leader they will become. We know that nothing of lasting value comes easy, but the effort and the sacrifice are worth it when we see our sons and daughters stride confidently across the stage at graduation; confident they have applied themselves fully to developing their gifts, and confident they are equipped for the next season in life.
Parents may find elements of this approach in other schools in the valley, but they will find only at Calvary Christian School a complete education. A complete education addresses not only the mind and body of a child, but also the spirit and heart of a child. The perfect picture of Christian education can be found in Luke 2:52 “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” Teaching the Whole Child the Whole Truth means we offer a complete Christian education which addresses the mind (wisdom), the body (stature), the Spirit (favor with God) and the spirit or social structure (favor with … man) of each child.
In Deuteronomy 6, God’s people received two clear commands … obey God’s commands and teach them to your children and grandchildren. At CCS, we assist parents and grandparents with that mandate. At CCS there is no separating of the sacred and secular world; we don’t compartmentalize our Christian life into blocks of time or events on our calendar. Every moment, every activity, and every thought falls under the guidance and authority of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
ELITE: it is a status not easily achieved nor lightly maintained, but ELITE is the goal every young person can and should set for themselves. I look forward to getting to know you and your son or daughter. If I can be of help to you personally, as you seek the best choice for your child, contact me at 706.323.0467, ext. 203 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
